Sarcopenia
Current, past and upcoming studies include:
- Sarcopenia (muscle wasting) studies.
- In conjunction with another research unit, CCST, we have utilised a bone density (iDXA) machine in Phase 1 trials to assess the safety & effectiveness of study medication in reducing age related muscle wasting, using Body Composition Application.
- A study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a new medication in women with low muscle mass using Body Composition Application.
Nutrition
Current, past and upcoming studies include:
- A double-blind, placebo-controlled, pilot study on the effect of dietary supplementation on quality of life, neuromuscular balance, vision, and the markers of oxidative damage on healthy elderly participants.
- A study to assess the effects of dietary supplementation in adolescent girls.
Respiratory/Cough
Current, past and upcoming studies include:
- A study of the treatment of acute exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis in adult patients in the community with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
- Comparison of the effectiveness and adverse effect profile of a study drug in hospitalised patients with pneumonia and exacerbations of chronic Bronchitis/COPD.
- Studies to investigate the incidence of cough in patients receiving ACE Inhibitors.
Stoma Studies

- Assessing the effectiveness, tolerability and assessment of wear time of new ostomy devices.
Gastroduodenal Ulcers
Current, past and upcoming studies include:
- Endoscopic assessment of the effectiveness of various medications in patients with duodenal and gastric drug-related ulcers.
- A study of the incidence of gastroduodenal ulcers in patients on osteoarthritis treatment.
