Coeliac disease is a condition where the immune system attacks a person’s own tissues when they have gluten in their diet. This damages the cell lining in the small intestine which becomes damaged and inflamed and interferes with the body’s ability to absorb nutrients.
Coeliac disease can cause a large range of symptoms including – bloating, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, fatigue, cramping and even vomiting.
This study will research if an investigative oral medication can alleviate symptoms for those with the disease, who are currently following a gluten-free diet.
- Are you aged between 18 and 80 years of age?
- Have been diagnosed with Coeliac disease with a biopsy?
- Have been following a gluten-free diet for at least 12 months, but are still experiencing symptoms?
If you have answered YES to the questions above, you may be eligible to be part of a new trial being held in Christchurch.
