Memory Loss Clinical Trial

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) produces a decline in memory and cognitive skills over time, and is a common cause of dementia. The causes are very complex but there is a consistent finding of an abnormal build-up of certain proteins in the brain including amyloid and tau.

Probucol (Lorelco™) is a cholesterol lowering drug that also appears to decrease inflammation in microscopic blood vessels important for maintaining brain function. Probucol may be effective in slowing disease progression in people with Alzheimer’s through this anti-inflammatory effect in the brain preventing or slowing damage to cells.
